On Monday morning, bright and early, travel agents all over the country (and Canada) were awake before the crack of dawn saving their clients hundreds and hundreds of dollars on their Walt Disney World vacation. At 5am the word got around to all who are "in the know" (because we travel agents are truly a team, we love each other, and we watch out for each other) that Disney had released their new Spring specials and they were on the internet already. This was one of the few times that we actually were told by Disney before the offer was released. However we had no idea what the offer would be. We just knew one was coming on Monday morning.
So while our clients slept, we saved them money. Many woke up to a wonderful email on Monday morning (one of my FAVORITE parts of my job) stating how much money they had saved on their already booked upcoming WDW vacation.
Why is this important?
1) Our clients didn't have to know. That's right, our clients did not know a thing about the specials/discounts. They didn't have to get on the phone first thing in the morning and try to grab up the few rooms available under the special. Each resort has a certain number of rooms allotted to the discount. Once gone, they are gone. If they hadn't known about the discount their price would have remained the same and they would have ended up paying the amount they booked their room at (which was the standard room rate). That's one of the great things about using a TA.
2) Our clients got the best availability. By the time the phone lines opened at 7am EST many room availabilities at certain resorts were already gone. Yes, we agents had gotten to them first. We are able to modify and change reservations online 24/7. So once the discount is posted we can immediately grab them and take advantage of the special for our clients. Those Disney clients who did not have a TA to help them had to get on the phone lines once they opened 2 hours after the discount became available online and wait in line for long periods of time just to find out that the resort they were staying at had already sold out of the discounted rooms. Another bonus of having a TA in your corner.
3) Our clients saved money! I don't believe I heard tell of anyone who booked directly through Disney saying that Disney called them that morning alerting them to the fact that a discount had been released and that they could save hundreds by swapping their reservation over. But our clients were able to save money. A travel agent works on behalf of his/her client to ensure that they have the best and most cost effective vacation available. This means that even if we end up loosing money by saving our clients money- it's worth it. Our clients come first. And our job is to save them money if at all possible.
4) Our clients pay absolutely nothing to gain this service. Thats right! Most travel agents (including all Family Fun Travels agents) work at no cost whatsoever to the client. We cost our clients nothing! Disney pays us based on the sale of the reservation. Regardless of if you use a TA or not the price is the exact same. So why not help out someone you know, someone in your community, someone that has more experience and knowledge than you might? It doesn't hurt you at all. And it definitely helps someone else. Even if you want to plan the entire thing entirely by yourself (have you any idea how difficult planning a trip to Disney is getting though??) please consider using a Travel Agent to at least book your initial reservation. We have a wealth of knowledge and expertise that we'd love to pass onto you for free. We train, we study, we learn from others who've been there done that, and we know how to fix problems that you have never dreamed could happen. Plus, we love our job and we absolutely love our clients!
We know that booking a vacation online yourself is getting easier than ever. We also know that many of the places that claim to have the lowest prices will bump you or move you or even cancel your reservation without a second thought if needed. We have the inside track on where the safest places to stay in New York City are. We have friends who've been on that famous River Cruise that you're dreaming of. We know the cabin that is definitely NOT the cabin to stay in on that last minute Carnival cruise that you want to take. We know the park in WDW which will have the lowest crowds on the particular day you will be at Disney. And we know when (or if) free dining will be release in the Fall again. We are the advocates in your corner to ensure you the most wonderful and hassle free trip for your family. Please contact your local travel agent the next time you decide to travel. We love our jobs and we want to help you.
